Step 1: Preparation
• Time: Measure your finger in the evening when your fingers are at their largest. Avoid measuring your finger when it is cold, as this can cause the finger to shrink slightly.
• Equipment: Use a flexible ruler or tape measure, preferably a special ring gauge if you have one. A paper strip can also be used if necessary.
Step 2: The measurement
1. Measure the circumference:
• Wrap the measuring tape or paper strip around the widest part of your finger, usually the knuckle. Make sure it fits comfortably without being too loose or too tight.
• Mark where the ends meet and measure the length between the marks with a ruler.
• If you are using a paper strip, make sure it is straight and not twisted.
2. Double check:
• Repeat the measurement at least three times to ensure you get the same result each time.
Step 3: Wider vs. narrower rings
• Wider rings (over 6 mm):
• For wider rings, add 0.5 to 1 full size (0.5mm to 1mm difference in inner circumference) to your measurement as they cover a larger portion of your finger and may feel tighter.
• Narrower rings (under 6 mm):
• For narrower rings, use the exact size you measured. These rings are less likely to affect blood circulation and give your finger more room to breathe.
Step 4: Flat inside (5 mm width and up) vs. rounded rings
• Flat rings:
• Flat rings may feel tighter because they have less flexibility and shape. You may want to add a half size (0.5mm difference in inner circumference) for comfort.
• Rounded rings:
• Rounded rings (comfort fit) are designed to slide more easily over the knuckle and may therefore feel more comfortable in an exact size.
Step 5: Check the size
• If possible, you are most welcome to book an appointment with us to get help measuring and finding the correct ring size. We look forward to helping you!
Tip:
• Remember that your dominant hand often has larger fingers, so measure the specific finger on the correct hand.
Example:
• If your exact size is EU 54 mm and you need a half size larger for a wider ring, you would order EU 54.5 mm (0.5 mm larger).
By following these steps, you can ensure that you get an accurate ring size and thus a comfortable and correct fit.
